Darkborn Princess began its journey as The Dark Princess, inspired by a dream I had around 2001 about a vampire woman with wings on her head. That vivid image led me to start sketching her, and from there, a dark, gothic world began to take shape. The story itself came later, after I created the character of Arcalane—originally named Archangel in the first draft I wrote in 2005.

This tale has accompanied me through the better part of 20 years, evolving with countless rewrites, adaptations, and mood shifts. It began as a way to express my emotions and cope with difficult times in my youth but has since grown into something far greater. For me, it has become a “dragon” I needed to slay to grow and move forward as a writer.

Now, here it is: a dream transformed into an original take on gothic tropes and grim atmosphere. At its core lies a love story—one that endures through the cruelty and darkness of the world these characters inhabit.
